Summary: Home Health Aides (HHA) work in the patients’ homes and help them with day-to-day tasks such as cleaning, cooking, bathing, and running errands.

Description: In addition to the summary, HHAs keep an eye on their patients’ physical and mental health. This can include helping them exercise and preparing healthy meals. HHAs need to be able to stand and move around for long periods of time, and be mentally and physically able. HHAs mainly work with the elderly and the sick and usually work 40 hours a week, though oftentimes includes weekends and holidays.

Experience: Minimal required experience. No need for college education or high school degree. Most home health aides are trained on the spot. In some cases, employers will require home health aides to go through extensive training and get certified within first 4 months of employment. 

Personality: Personable, friendly, quick-thinking, energetic, emotionally stable, compassionate, caring, and confident in decision-making.
