The LCHP region, largely located in Central New York, is home to MASH Camps. MASH, not to be confused with the famous M.A.S.H. television show, stands for Medical Academy of Science and Health. These educational day camps are run by CNYAHEC and hosted at various healthcare facilities in the region. The goal of MASH Camp is to encourage students, who are typically in grades 8 and 9, to explore various healthcare careers. Ideally, camp-goers will embark on their healthcare professions locally.

At MASH Camp, students will get to experience hands-on activities and learn the ins and outs of working in healthcare. They will also acquire a better understanding of what education and training requirements they will need for the healthcare career they choose to pursue. Perhaps the most valuable aspect of the Camp is the students getting to meet, interact, and learn from local healthcare professionals. Some activities students may partake in include: learning how to bandage injuries, go inside an ambulance, see new-born babies, experience the check-in process at hospitals (patient experience), see the inside of a morgue, see the surgery unit, interact with various staff, including nurses, dietary staff, administrators, and med lab technicians, and see a medic helicopter.

MASH Camps have been serving the Central New York region for nearly 20 years now. These highly interactive camps are embraced by the health facilities that host them and receive great feedback from students and their parents.
